Headlight Swap

Hey just kinda curious here.....

Recently there have been a few threads about lighting. It's common for 3rd genners to convert to E36 lamps. I think it's pretty obvious that they won't work on our cars. But what about these?

You should probably get dimensions for that light. Chevy Silverado lights are pretty close as well, but they are slightly smaller. Probably could work with modications of course.

Hmmm, I guess I need to go to the wreckers and investigate that one.Yet another possibility. But yeah, like Sarin said, 88 and up fullsize GM p/u headlights are very close to the right size and they have the right angle to them if you wanted to put them on an 85-86 Max, they wouldn't work for 87-88.

keep us posted if you try this. I recently pulled my headlights apart and repainted the inside with chrome spray paint....now they are much better/brighter than they used to be, but I would still like more light from them.

Well I dunno when (if ever) I'll be able to try it out. Recently I've been checking out what other headlights might work on our cars. I figured I'd throw it out there if somebody wants to pursue it. I thought they might out well, 1) cuz they seem to be the about right shape, 2) they are a single bulb, unlike E36 lamps for instance and 3) they have the integraded parking light too. I'd def. like to take some measurements and give it a try, they'd look bada** on a Max.

The only problem with swapping in projectors is that the textured glass on our housings would totally ruin the projectors beam pattern. It still would be better, but not even close to what the projectors true beam is. And then you would have no high beams either. I have some H11 halogen projectors off of a brand new Volvo truck that are definately going on my car, as soon as I get the housings sorted out. Either a swap to chev ones or good old DIY.
