1988 Maxima RPM Problem

The RPM will not go above 2500 or slightly above 30+ mph. It shudders and sounds like it wants to stall at higher rpm or speed. At idle or low speed it just purrs. Any Ideas as to what is wrong.

Correct me if I am wrong anyone. Its been awhile since someone has had this issue. I wanna say you are in a "limp home mode" you can check the ECU codes to see what youve got, but usually when something like this goes wrong its the MAF( Mass Air Flow sensor).

Bear with me as I'm new to this but what is ECU code and how do you check it? MAF where is it located? And if it was the fuel injector wouldn't it blow clean if you tried to rev it up?

Sounds like you MAF....I would check and make sure it is pluged in all the way first. The pull you codes look in your haynes manual, or FSM and they will tell you how.
