how much is 84 maxima worth
how much is 84 maxima worth
Hi, i drive a 99 maxima, but i got a friend that what like to sell me a 1984 maxima with a "straight six" and rear wheel drive. It only has 30,000 original miles and was garaged for the past 18 years. The body is in mint condition, I test drove it and the only thing bad i noticed was that the RPM's jump slightly here and there when in park.
the coolest thing is it talks "KEY IS IN THE IGNITION"
THE PRICE IS $800 IS IT A GOOD BUY, A STEAL OR A RIPOFF?

It depends. By garaged did he mean not run at all for 18 years, or that it was driven sparringly and kept in the garage when not driven. There is a difference between the two. It could be a good deal, but make sure a mechanic/technician, goes over it thoroughly to make sure there aren't any hidden surprises (ie engine, tranny problems) that may develop. 30,000 miles in 18 or 22 years is way too low in my opinion. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

And here I thought I got the best deal on my car... garaged all it's life, 141,000 miles... Nope. I didn't even get a voice, lol.

yes if you know anything about a rwd vehicle and the L block engines you can rebuild them to be very nice, you can make a stroker motor out of them by using the diesel maxima crank and new rods and heads and boring it over. If you want you could fit a 350 in there due to the space required for the str8 six

I was wondering if a V-8 would fit in the Maxima.
My 1984 Maxima needs a sibling!!! The 1984's are the last year of independent RWD suspension. pm67@yahoo.com

187 miles on it. But that was 21 years ago. They don't make them
anymore.
There's a nice looking 83 Max up for auction in Vancouver, BC.
Looks like the guy put a lot of money and upgrading into it.
" Here are some details:
Rebuilt 240Z block with 15,000 miles on it.
280ZX 5 spd tranny
lowered with aftermarket shocks and springs
Datsun 510 1 piece driveshaft
Maxima diesel oil pan 6.5L capacity
200SX turbo throttle body
K&N intake, MSD coil
Nissan motorsports header, full exhaust
Edelbrock muffler, brospeed tip
new top of the line battery
Alarm with keyless entry
Grant mahogany steering wheel (nice)
Sounds like a vintage race car "

I would say several thousand. i have seen a modified one in good condition reach about $1500, but it had a 5spd conversion.
$800! just keep your mouth shut and get the car from him. Someday, when there are not that many good 1st gens left, it could be worth alot more. Sure, it will never even be worth as much as a 280ZX 2+2 in the same condition, but still it will be worth more than you paid for it assuming you can resist putting very many miles on it....

Lol, why videoman? Are you going to sell yours? There was a nice one (no longer available of course) that was in Florida. The guy was asking only $900, it had 130K miles and was light blue with a blue tinting on the windows, a nice car. I haven't seen any other 84 wagon since that one. Of course, if you don't mind the travel, there are a few on the west coast.
Well actually, I'm trying to fix up my wagon. I usually drive it a little while
then it breaks down and I let it sit for a time. I get it running again, drive it
a little while and it stops running and I park it. I'm in the fixup part of the
cycle now. It's obviously not my main mode of transportation.
You wouldn't just happen to have an 84 gas wagon lying around (not running but intact) that you wouldn't mind trading for an 84 sedan (not running but intact)? I switched the alloy wheels from the sedan to the wagon. The rusty wagon's wheels are now on the sedan.

I wish I did, but I don't, sorry. I'm trying to find a Maxima wagon of this vintage myself without having to go out of state, which looks like that will be the case. Same for you, your best bet is to try the junkyards in Ohio, if there isn't one there, you'll definitely find one out of state. Funny and Ironic thing, is that there are a few if not more on the West Coast (California, Oregon, etc). There was even a wagon that was in impound in California. Good luck in whatever you decide to do
The Maxima mystique continues. Those who have them don't really want to part with them. I guess we'll have to visit a few estate sales to find some of these rare treasures. Most junkyards I've contacted don't keep anything that old around and wagons are very rare.
Lol, tell me about it. It's ironic you mentioned the estate sales. The last 2 out of state wagons I located where only for sale because the owners died. I guess to find a nice one, it will be out of state for us:} Funny, the same year of the Toyota Cressida are popular too.
