grease in intake/tb?!

Ok, I got bored today and decided to go do some work on my max, so I decided to take out the TB and check and clean it. When I took it off, I was surprised to find a nice thick layer (1/20" thick) of grease in the TB and Intake manifold! Is this usual, or is something wrong? If something is wrong, what would it be?

No , Its normal but if you want a insty bit of better throttle responce try to clean as mutch of it as you can out , Its very hard to clean . Just make sure there is nothing left inside the Manifold after your done , Or you will screw up your engine.

I was thinking of taking off the Intake Manifold and using a parts washer to remove all of the carbon in there. I will most likely do that if i have to pull the engine to put in a new rack & pinion, as well as some other engine work.
