HI,
Does anyone know if the computer on the ‘84 Maxima can be tested or does it give codes of what is thinks is malfunctioning? I know the problem is that it’s getting to much fuel but why it is?? The plugs continue to foul up no matter what I change or check. Today I had it running great. Turned it off and let it cool a little, started it again and it's hardly idling. Plugs back to fouled up right after I turn it on. I checked the plugs after driving it for over an hour and they were cleanly burning. Now black carbon build up after a few seconds of running. Mass flow meter was changed, plugs, gas regulator 2 times, fuel filter, injectors, fuel lines checked, O2 sensor changed, and $250 at Nissan for no help other than he said it had a 90 lbs. of pressure on the fuel line and changed the regulator. HELPPPPPP!!!!

I just went out to the car. It's cooled and runs like a dream again. I drove around for 20 miles. And it sat. I've done a little adapting. I took the vaccum hose of the carbon canister and the hose that draws the gas vapors from the carbon canister together. Runs very well now.
But if I turn off the car i'm sure it will not restart or it's idle is so low it dies.
