Car & Driver: 83 Maxima Diesel Sedan vs. MB 300SD & Oldsmobile Delta 88
How cool is this? A first gen. Maxima in the pages
of Car & Driver in 2006. The battle of the Diesel
Beaters & some goofy journalists. :P

That diesel 1983 Datsun Maxima makes my gas powered
1984 Maxima look almost conventional. I wish I could
have bought it off of them after they were done with it.
"Wearing 235,704 miles, our Datsun Maxima diesel looks
like an old Hotpoint stove rising out of an Iraqi oil fire. A bilious black
fog trails behind it, and its tailpipe farts a sooty skid mark on the
pavement wherever it is idling. The Maxima’s encrustation of white
paint barely conceals the gouge marks of hastily sanded Bondo."
It has 70K more miles than my Datsun, impressive but
I'm sure there's other ones out there wiht a half million.
Makes me want to subscribe to C&D again.
