300zx ecu and maf
What is the ECU Turbo or NA?
There are a few different ECU's for the 300ZX ZXT/NA.
84-87 are 8 bit ECU and are OK.
88/89 are 16 bit and have better resolution maps.
You will need to match your cars O2 sensor type to the one of the 87 ECU.
84-86 are the same pinout.
87-89 are the same pinout.
I would think that the Z would have better settings. I say give it a try.

the rev limit was higher combined with the cold air intake i have a feeling that you will feel some gainsmake shure that it has the same tranny setting as you do(auto/5speed)
I tried an 85 300ZX ecu on my 85 Max. It seemed to feel a little bit more powerful. The Z has a better, but less fuel efficient Fuel Map. The only problem I had, was the transmission didnt shift in the max, cause it's an auto, and teh ECU was for a 5-speed.. But i just felt like seeing what would happen.
You can always burn a new ROM chip for your ecu, with a 300ZX tune, and MAF settings for the stock max MAF. (this is what JWT does if you send them your ECU, but with their own tunes.)
