It is pretty rare, but was never available in the 300ZR (it had the VG30DE). It came in the Nissan Cedric, Gloria, and Leopard, from what I can find.

But yeah, its basically a single turbo version of the VG30DETT with slightly different heads. The ports themselves are slightly bigger and shaped differently from what I understand.

It could definitely be a fun engine to mess with. I actually have one in my garage but just nothing that I really want to put it in. Oddly enough, I actually prefer the VG30E(T) over the VG30DE(T)(TT). I believe they're more reliable and as far as power potential goes... the SOHC VG is nearly an equal performer, especially for street vehicles and even more so for Maximas. With our FWD setup we simply have no use for anything more than what the VG30E(T) is capable of.

That is indeed rare...

Will it fit? Most Likely not.

Nissan designed the VE30DE, to fit a DOHC engine into the Maxima, the VG30DE(T-TT)'s Heads are way too wide to fit in the engine bay, thats why it was limited to 2 US models, the J30 and Z32 300ZX, which both have extremly cramped engine bays, and are both RWD. (I HATE THESE FOR THIS REASON!!)

(Nice 3rd gen therealgoon9, it reminds me of a Cefiro, too bad they didnt offer the RB in the max =P)
