I hit 60 in second once. I was surprised because usually 50 was the magic number for it.

Hey big e
Why don't you just rebuild your auto???
Get a valve body mod and rebuild kit @ about 250$.

That way you can keep the turbo and still rock the streets!

Okay, me and sarin had a little debate awhile ago. I say that a turbo autotragic can be just as fast as a manual. He disagrees.

Bid E the valve body mod just changes the shift point in the trany allowing for a more aggressive transmission. There is a link to the website somewhere Ill post it later.

If I had had more time I could of proved my theory. But Ive moved on. I still have the stuff at my parents place I would even ship it to you.

I have
Valve body mod
Transmission rebuild kit
Trany manual
Trany cooler

If you had all these parts I think the automatic could stand the turbo and give you one hell of a ride.

Auto's can be as fast in manuals...but in the case of the 2nd gen, the auto can as much as a 1 second slower than a manual, if not more in N/A form. I believe that mod for mod, that number might get a little less, but there still will be a performance gap. The 2nd gen auto is the worst piece of engineering ever...the newer generations fix many of the flaws, but I don't have very much confidence in the 2nd gen auto, built or not.
