My fan on my 1987 Maxima only works on 4, the highest setting. I found from another website that a the Fan blower resistor is to blame so I ordered another one from my local Nissan dealer. I have searched all over my car but cannot seem to find where it goes. Any help at all with my problem would be helpful. Oh, and btw I have to haynes guide and it is not in there.

i'm not sure where it is but i would start by looking near the switches in the dash and if that dont work i would check somewhere down by the evaporator

Doesn't sound like a fan motor resistor problem.
You need a fan switch assembly.
The part includes the control cables for the doors, basically the whole part.
The part does not include the A/C button or A/C switch.

What happens is the contact wear out and only certain positions work. I had to replace mine b/c only position 3 and 4 worked.

The part is not fun to install.
