the CHTS, cylinder head temperature sensor? I think mine just went out today. The car will not stay running but when it does run, it runs fine. I just did the timing belt 2 days ago and i think i might of hit it or something. I scanned the computer and it had code 13 which is the chts. The scanner said to check the ohms and i did but there was nothing at all, so i guess the sensor is bad. The scanner also said that it will cause bad running and black smoke out the back, both of which i now have. Is this a common problem and how much is it for the sensor? Should i get it from the dealership or will an aftermarket one be ok to use?

Replace it with a dealer part.
Aftermarket sensors are not very accurate and give false readings.
You said you replaced the timing belt. I would double check and make sure that you have a good connection at the sensor. You may have a bad connector of broken wire. Another problem may be that you did not bleed the air out of your cooling system enough.

I got the sensor from the dealer and installed it yesterday. Car runs perfectly now. Cost for parts, about $40 including a new wiring subharness.
