That 1st Gen Maxima looks really nice. It's really clean and simple. Plus, notice those PIAA foglamps? A period correct accessory especially with the 80s cars. Good job!

im pretty sure i can do the l28 swap but when it comes to the turbo intercooler stuff california smog laws are a pita, the car has to appear stock unless i get some smog legal turbo/intercooler kit or i get it b.a.r'd

Since he already has a straight six in it....I would upgrade it to a larger L28 or strked L28 and the externally engine appearance is stock with a few pieces here and there.....But is this car not considered an Antique in California????? It would definitely be an antique in Texas, therefore exempt from emission testing, just the regular old school safety inspection....My D21 will be exempt in 2011 but has passed all the emission test for the pass 6-7 yrs with headers, cam, ignition, exhaust, etc and it's 341,000 mile motor! LOL

I think in california only cars made before 1975 can be exempt. My maxima is registered as antique in texas

im so glad we dont have those inspection/smog things here, its so confusing.

so why would a 1975 or older car be exempt? wouldnt they pollute more than a 1st gen?

because there are not many of them actually driving around, and they had no emissions control when that old. I have 67 Camaro with straight headers but it only drives few times a year so very little pollution.

Not true if you do an engine swap. My buddie got a ref ticket for having an ka swap in his 72 datsun 510 he got the ticket for blocking off the egr.

Anyway this is a nice maxima but I've seen it on the org before a couple weeks back.

man here everything goes, you just need inspection when you get the car and theres no emissions

its nice to do whatever you want to your car here, but then you get the dumbfukcs who dont take care of their car and are driving a hazard

yeah true i know what you mean. technically u can do any swap as long as it has all the smog crap the engine year came with. but its a toss up on how much of an a$$ hole the cop is...

Hello all, I'm the owner of that car and its not a photo shop picture I'll post more pictures. The L28 turbo motor swap on my maxima is legal, I got it approve with the smog referee, the car has a carb approve sticker on it and its really easy to smog without any problem because they just scan the sticker and it shows up as a legal engine swap. Its really not that hard, just follow what the referee tells you to do Thanks all and long live the 1st gen maximas
