'81 Maxima front strut assembly

The time has come. My new tires are wearing badly on the outer edge and the strut assembly is rusting out at the top hat flange. Time for new one. Problem is that they are no longer available. Anyone have any spares? Anyone know where to get a pair? Good used is fine or do you know of a bolt-in option? I will have my mechanic do the work. Currently the car is 100% stock, but it does not have to stay that way.

Thanks for looking that up, but that is for the strut. Those can be bought almost anywhere. The strut inserts into the strut assembly, which is the part I need. Looks like I will need to get a used one.

Dam dude...you didn't research any further than just looking at the info I gave you? Just so you'll know 365013 is the p/n for the front strut cartridges and 341012 is the p/n for the rear shock absorber assy.....Hope that helps you dude! They have boots and all that stuff you just need to research more....

Appearantly you see something I don't. I dug into the site the first time and all I see for the front of my Max is the strut bellow and the strut cartridge. I dug again at your insistance but see nothing more. What am I missing? I need the strut assembly which appears to only be available used.

A question.

I'm assuming my car has the 3 way shock adjustment system. How would I know if it has the Sonar Suspension System?

This **** really confuses me.

the 3 way adjustment system i believe came on mid 86 and newer maxima's.. the way you Can tell if you have on is if you have wires going into the top of the strut towers and you will have a lil suspension computer in the center console..

Strut Assembly

I went the used route, via www.car-part.com. Got it from Hwy 64 Auto Salvage in Kirkland, NM $140 for the pair, shipped(heavy!). I still need to buy strut insert and and bellow (both are easily obtained.) Thanks for your help.

they do make adjustable strut inserts, all you have to do is look for the right diamiter and length that will fit in the strut housing.. i read ppl datsunz guys using Toyota insert off the mr2's and calicas but the diff is that they are shorter. so if you have plans to drop the car the shorter inserts will be the way to go with some coil overs...

go threw the article so you can get the picture of Wat I'm talking about...
