help! Just did my timing belt, waterpump t stat and now wont start

I just did the timing belt ect ect on my 85 max and I double triple and double checked my triple checked and so on and so fourth and when I buttoned everything up and went to crank it over it just turned over. and then I noticed a white smoke that smelled like gas coming from the air box. I took the cover of the air box off and it is coming from my intake? any ideas? i searched this all over google and only came up with the engine is turning backwards? I pulled the dizzy and it seems to be turning the right way. I am out of ideas!

the only thing I can think of is your timing is off are you sure the marks on the belt were matched up with the marks on the pulleys? I would say that your off 180 deg on the cams and your sucking air in the exhaust and pushing it out the intake, quick check would be pull your fuel pump fuse (so you don't keep putting gas in flooding out the cylinders causing possible hydro lock and bending rods) open air box and have someone turn it over and see if you can tell if it's sucking or blowing air.

Yes the dots were matched to the lines on the tbelt as to the pulley to at tdc. One more note there was a wire that I left disconnected by accident it was behind the tbelt cover it looks like it is going to a cam shaft sensor maybe? Could that be a possible cause

Do I have to tear the entire thing apart again or can I rotate the dizzy 180?

Yeah, but it sounds like his camshaft timing marks are not lined up correctly. Rotating the dizzy will not correct that issue.

Okay, I reset to tdc pulled everything apart again, reset the timing and put the belt back on. Before I put everything back together I want to get your opinion to see if everything looks kosher.

Hacking up a hair ball and she was running richer than hue heff. I got that figured out. I had spark plug wires 4 and 6 switched on the dizzy. I wasn't paying attention to the randomness of the dizzy. Switched them around and she purrs like a healthy kitten now! Lol
