86 Maxima Trying to start for the first time in 15 years
Hey I got a 86 Nissan Maxima for free and I am trying to get it going after it has been sitting for at least 15 years. It has 120,000 on it.
I have replaced the fuel regulator, injectors, fuel rail, gas tank, pump, filter, spark plugs, ecu, battery. Everything was pulled out of a fully running 85 max.
There is gas in the tank, it is getting fuel through the filter and up to the regulator. It is turning over very healthy, it is getting a spark, ecu is not showing any codes. How ever I pulled the return line off of the rail and cycled the fuel pump and nothing came out. I am assuming that fuel is not getting to the rail and the injectors for some reason.
What should I look at next?
Any help is greatly appreciated

I actually got it to start! I had accidentally reversed the fuel lines! Doh! Fixed that and it sputtered right up!
Now I am working on getting the vacuum issue situated. I am getting rid of a lot of stuff from under the hood to make the engine bay look cleaner and make it easier to diagnose vacuum leaks.
I am removing the EGR, AIV, Evap Canister, Vacuum Chamber, throttle coolant circulation.
I plan on running a central vacuum off of the intake plenum to a manifold and run the necessary vac lines from that Makes stuff a lot easier and look a lot cleaner!
And I do not care about emissions and it not passing smog or any of that crap

I have another harness the only problem is the entire harness from the fuse box to the ecu needs to be replaced
So the max is gonna get parked for a while and I am gonna focus on my ranger for a little bit because she needs some attention.

I honestly do not know what happened. I am still searching for the problem. I am being let to believe that there is a previous electrical issue because when I got the car I pulled the air cond fuse and it was melted and burned very badly. So there might be a short somewhere. I will figure it out soon.

Well there u go. I believe we all don't want you to stop because we've all become hooked to your project and this is the most activity the 2nd gen section has seen in a long while.
So far everything is going smooth. I am rebuilding the harness and trying to make everything look pretty in the process. It scares me the way Nissan put their harness together. It's just a rats nest of wires with a **** load of splices.
Update!
Got the car started today.. I have to hook up a few more things, do a little trouble shooting, put everything back together, drop the gas tank and replace a leaky and clogged line, and install the 2.5" High Flow cat, and cap off my egr tubes.

I am not one to rig things but this will have to do until I get more wire to run the battery in the trunk

Its a nice setup he has. I am going to mount the three gauges where the factory EQ and clock was. There is going to be a Temp, Volt, and Air / Fuel. The original cluster will be replaced with Speedo, Tach, Fuel, Oil Pressure and on the pillar there is going to be Nitrous and probably a shift light
I think i am going to start an actual build thread lol.
