My steering suddenly hard to steer

Need help here can’t figure out what gone wrong since I put new KYB struts and replace all the tie rod, ball joint and rebuild the ps pump since it was making noise and it stopped after I Rebuild the seals and now I have no steering when is on the ground but if it was lifted up and it steers, any input what gone wrong since I do have pressure but I need an opinion could the rack quick working ?

If you open up the PS system you need to bleed the system. With wheels off the ground turn the steering wheel slowly full left then full right a few times. Forgot if engine needs to be running but won't hurt. Be sure to refill reservoir as needed.
Hope that helps, Al

It's possible that you installed the check valve the incorrect way inside the pump?

Possible trash clogging the steering rack's ports?

It was the rack and pinion, the seal were slowly leaking and the port were clogged. So I pulled it out and did a complete rebuild, considering the car has 174k miles on it with the original Rack.

My advice to everyone is to install an inline magnetic filter (5/8") on your power steering suction hose it can reduce the chance of clogging the internal passages of your pump or rack & pinion.

now my pump isn't working after a rebuild, it's not making pressure. So I'm licked, gonna go buy a new pump.

Finally put a new pump and viola it works!! It irked me why would my old pump wouldn’t work after I rebuild it myself with new seals and bearing shaft? I read a lot online people who rebuilt their pump had the same issue it did not have pressure. I’m glad I got it back on the road

I've rebuilt many pumps and never seen one not work after rebuilding it...I know it's easy and cheap and I'll do that for one that has a leaking seal over one that is making metal....Great effort anyways FMM.

My steering stalls intermittently at cold start but is fine while driving. I notice power steering fluid is not moving in the reservoir. Is this a sign of a bad steering pump or bad high pressure hose?

Could be your rack and pinion!
