new Rear Strut
new Rear Strut
I was working on my struts for the front which I got KYBs and now I just did the rears today with KYB, and wow what a difference on the ride and how it sat higher than before. I never knew those rear were "refillable" strut oil. However knowing that they were electronic suspension. I had to follow the FSM to remove the strut rod and drain the fluid out and the "housing" is used to put the cartridge in place and screw in the cap that supplied with the KYB. Man I never seen now much better the car is level and doesn't have that rear swaying and bouncy. what an improvement. I highly recommend it. It appears that rear were never touched the entire time. One note I do want to mention if anyone would replace them, reuse your old spacer that is under the strut bolt. You don't get them on your replacement or you will be screwing the nut all the way down to the bottom of the strut mount. I would have taken pictures of them see where I am getting at but the car was already done, I replace the sway link bushing, the sway bar bushing, made it much better since the original were rubbery and cracking. Oh one last note, replace the mounts too cuz you can't reuse the mount since the rod on the OEM is a lot larger than the KYB replacement which I'm glad I got new mounts from Westar, since KYB did not have them available for the mount.
i have an '87 Max SE with the electronic suspension and am looking to convert it to non-electronic.i have the front struts, the rear shock cartridges, the f and r mounts, but i can't seem to locate the upper spring seats-which are different.any ideas:?
