High Parasitic Current Draining Battery
High Parasitic Current Draining Battery
My 87 Max has a 8A parasitic current drain that kills the battery.i n a couple of days of sitting . I know I have to have troubleshoot with the dvom and pull fuses, relays and the alternator, but did anyone have a problem and the fix?
No real guesses until you do the DVOM fuse pull test to narrow down what circuit is draining the battery, do you have an aftermarket sound system or alarm system? Those are usually the first culprit
No, both the sound system and alarm system original. i had thought sbout this too.
I checked some the obvious things for now until I get more time- interior and trunk lights are OK.
With this much current draw I suspect the alternator or a bulb

Turns out it was the brake light switch that was stuck in the on position. The switch itself didn't go bad, it was the plastic pedal stop pad that on the pedal that pushes the switch button. It got brittle from age and fell out. It left a hole on through the contact surface and wouldn't depress the switch.
Turn out this a problem with Nissans and replacements are available either OEM or aftermarket.
The speed control brake cancel is the same way. I found the pieces of both plugs buried in floor mat.
