For sale: Protorque high stall torque converter

I have a protorque high stall TC for sale. It has about 1500 miles on it before I floated the valves in my engine. This TC will fit all 85-94 VG autos and 92-94 VE autos. This TC will increase stall speed about 300-800rpm depending on engine modifications. On my max I saw a stall increase of 400-500rpm, which means I could leave from a stop at 1800-2200rpm at part throttle. At full throttle I could launch at 2500-2600rpm with little wheelspin with a flash stall. This mod will give you more off line acceleration without having to increase the engine's power. Also it didn't affect my gas mileage at all, but YMMV! I'd like to get $275 + shipping OBO. My email is Nismo87se@sbcglobal.net.

How would this affect the longevity of my VG auto tranny if at all? Does it make it stronger, or would it increase the chances of me ruining my tranny faster?

This mod allows you to put more power to the ground off the line. So it improves available low end torque. The only way it would ruin your tranny any faster is if you raced it constantly without having a trans cooler.

This high stall torque converter is perfect for someone that wants more low end power, but still drives their car daily. With this raise in stall, it will not build up any more heat than before. Not noticeably anyway. So the longevity of your tranny is not compromised at all. But, reguardless if you have a high stall TC or not, I always recommend that you get a tranny cooler, even if your car is 100% stock. GET A TRANNY COOLER!

Also, this torque converter will allow lower cruising rpms due to the tighter tolerances. It will lock up easier and lower than before. So you may notice that you will be cruising at about 100rpm lower than you did before, which can actually help gas mileage there.

But as far as the low end power increase, that is the biggest reason you should get this modification! I noticed a HUGE gain in low end power. It easily shaved .15 from my 60 foot times alone and 3 tenths in my 1/4 mile times. Traction could possibly be more of an issue, which is good. That means you now have more power that you can work with. Just get beter tires and your problem is solved.

BTW, I have an Edgeracing 3000 stall TC and that was close to $500. So this deal is a bargain! ProTorque is a very reputable company and makes great products. I suggest someone jump on this b/c there is no way you'll find a better deal elsewhere ... ever!

If I get this and install it on my VG auto will it outlast my tranny? If so, can I use it with a replacement tranny if mine does go? I currently have about 88k miles on my car. Should I worry about the tranny going out soon if I get this TC and a tranny cooler?

BTW, how often should I flush and fill the tranny fluid?

Thanks.

I do ATF changes at the same time as oil changes so I do them every 5k miles. If you do a flush I'd suggest 10k miles, the TC should outlast your tranny so if your for whatever reason dies you can put it in the next one.
