$200's a bit high but not surprising. What all do you have to put in? It's really not hard to install a radio. It takes talent and ingenuity to install a radio WELL.

I'm guessing but the red/black wires going to the BOSE amps are most likely power/ground, and the other two would be speaker wires. Look on the speaker backs themselves and see if you can identify the wires going to the + and - posts.

Hmm...well, the wires in a grey plastic cover going TO the amp are the ones you're going to want to use to go to new speakers. You cant use the bose amps. Then, at the radio in the dash, those same wires in grey covers (there should be 4 of them) go to each amp...you'll have to cut them before the amps and wire em to the speakers, making sure the ones u hook to positive at the dash, are positive at the speaker.
If this is kinda confusing tell me and ill try to go more in depth

you need to buy an adapter. i didnt have the bose system in mine, but i had to buy an adapter for my antenna connection. if you are still very unsure on how to connect your system all up, you can definitly save yourself some time and money by buying the master sheets from chrutchfield. i have the ones for the non bose system. just make sure that when you order them you let them know that yours is the bose one. they only cost $4 definitly worth it.

Ok, here's my $0.02 worth.....

Maximas have what is commonly referred to as a diversity antenna. That's why your antenna wire looks funny. The smaller wire is the lead for the antenna portion that is imbedded in the rear windshield, and the other larger lead.... well, I don't have to tell you where that goes, do I?? You will definately need an antenna adaptor which, like thebull says, you can get from Crutchfield or a competent shop (Radio Shack also sells these, FYI).

As for your speaker question, Foo90SE hit the nail on the head with that. I'd definately have to consult my wiring diagrams to give you the exact colors, though. But $200 isn't out of the realm of impossibility, as it can be a PITA to install speakers in a Max. But if U have the patience and time, then go for it! I've been installing alarms and stereos for 10 years (MECP certified), and there's nothing more gratifying than DIY, when it's done right.

Good Luck.

About grounding..u know that what the head unit mounts to, what it screws into is a ground I ran my ground wire to one of the headunit bracket screws and works good
Little late for that now tho hehe. What u have should work fine tho.

Bose speaker wiring

If you are going to take the time to do this yourself, follow one of the primary rules of good installations: Don't use the existing wiring! Run your own. It is not hard to do. To make it easy on yourself you need to take one of the chairs out and raise the rear seat cushion. When you remove the little plastic panels on your doorsteps, the carpet will lift right up and it will be easy to run your wires. Use 16 gauge wires, since you are doing quality work now. Do it on the passenger side. On the drivers side there is a fat cluster of wires running back, the passenger side is virtually clear so there is lots of space.

If you decide to use the bose wires for whatever reason, the black and red in the back are power and ground, the others are the speaker low level signal. The rear speaker signal is in the six connector plug on your radio together with the steering signal for the relay that p[owers teh Bose amps. The colors on the plug at the radio are the same as in the back on the speakers. If you cut them and reuse them, YOU assign them the left and right channel plus and minus. Keep that straight at both ends and you will keep the new speakers in phase.

Final tip: Don't rush the job.

Good luck,

John
