ve laid to rest

this afternoon my VE suffered a catastrophic failure in the line of duty.

cruising at 80mph then metallic tapping and small "explosion" and plume of white smoke. 4 seconds later a bigger bang and a cloud of black smoke, everywhere.

preliminary inspection shows that the #1 or 3 cylinder or rod went through the block.

she's gone. whats really odd is that i have 2 other cars (one a vq 5sp) and i'm fairly upset obut it.

my brother was driving at the time this happened but he said that she went out Formula 1 blow-up style.

Sorry to hear man. How many miles did it have? That's strange that it would just throw a rod, was the oil low?

Re: ve laid to rest

Will you be able to take pics? Something had to go wrong for the engine to throw a rod or 2. Did your oil psi light ever come on when the engine died? Man I feel so sorry for you, I've been there . The onlything I suggest is that if your not going to buy another motor is to part the car out. Otherwise if you buy another motor you can freshen it up and do alittle extra .

she was in bad shape b4 it happened so i cant just say a rod let go. and now that somebody mentioned it, she was leaking oil from the oil pressure sending unit.
