AT trans problem

i was driving a 94 max with over drive on and found out whenever I accelated the rpm went up but the car did not reponse. but i could still drive it.

took off over drive, the rpm went up really quick when I took off from complete stop. The car would still go but rpm went up really high and then gear would slowly catch up. Anyone has this problem. Do i need a new trans?

Your tranny is slipping and will die very shortly. I had the same symptoms. Tell us if you have a GXE or SE, and if you don't know what a torque convertor looks like, then don't even try pulling the tranny. I bought mine from www.phoenixhardparts.com.

thank you for your hint. the web site that you gave me has very good price on the auto trans. do you have any problem after you installed it? Did you do it yourself? I am really thinking about change it myself but you suggest not to do it myself. I guess I should do more research on it before I start the project. I just changed timing belt for my 89 accord (first time that I did it) so do you think I can still do it. Is any web site or information that I can read to follow.

Well, If you did a t-belt on an Accord you should be able to do a transmission. Unlike the timing belt, there isn't anything you can screw up when you swap the tranny. Just make sure not to follow the instructions in the Hayne's and Chiltons manuals, they say to remove the tranny and engine as a unit. The tranny can come out by itself as I learned afterwards from a mechanic friend that does them all the time. The tranny that I go shifts OK, you get what you pay for they were the cheapest rebuilt transmissions that I could find. Since you live in Cali driving to Arizona and picking up the transmission at Phoenix Hard Parts would save you a lot of time and money. Check out my homepage for some pics on my tranny change, just click on my sig pic. Good luck man.
