Thought I would share this with everyone

I am currently driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota 4x4 recently I decided it is time to say goodbye to that payment, I just cannot afford a car note anymore. I decided to search around on the interent for awhile just to buy any cheap ol car. I was looking for a few weeks and one day my brother decided to take me to this wholesale dealer where low and behold in the corner was a black 1992 Nissan Maxima SE. I was looking to only spend 2000-3000 dollars on a car, I thought to myself this thing must be expensive it is totally loaded.

Well, to make a long story short this car was sold to me for 2200. It is a 5 speed with 89500 miles. Before I bought it the sales guy said he took it to a nissan mechanic who told him that it needs a new Variable timing unit. I do not drive it yet until I get this thing fixed, I didn't know that the car knocked real bad at the dealer b/c I didn't sit in the car and rev it up to 4000 like I did when I got home. It sounds like something is bouncing around from behind the engine, I am no car expert so I came to the internet for some help.

Basically, I would like to know what to do? Since I just bought it and I have no idea on this cars maintenance history. What would you guys do?

Sorry if it is to long but this is my first post, I have a digital camera so I will try to post some pics in a little bit.

...and you're sure you aren't saying that because your car is red? Or because you're a NUPE??

I live in Ohio, red is for candyasses.

The floor mats are what is really dirty, the carpet in this car is in awesome condition. I think grandma and grandpa drove this car, I was using these leather conditioner wipes on the interior yesterday and down in the front seat out came this old looking makeup compact thingy.

Hopefully gramps got rid of it due to the VTC problem

Impressive. That is one clean car. I wish my seats looked like that, I have cracks all in my leather. If you have problems with the VTC's get them fixed and then hang onto that car as long as you can. Congradulations on the find, good luck, and welcome to the org.

Wow! Yes, consider yourself lucky you got a Black 5-speed with low miles. That interior looks terrific.

To maintain it, once you fix the VTCs change the oil and filter religiously! Use 5W30 weight. To keep it looking nice, wash and wax the paint and clean and condition the leather on a regular basis. A vinyl protectant for the dash is a good idea too.
