Phillips BlueVision

I bought some Philips BlueVision 9004 off ebay the other day and it got in yesterday... since this being my first "mod" type dealie for my max, I was pretty excited (i'm poor alrite... all you ppl with your Y-pipes...CAI..blahlah )

Anyway, I put em in... and my roomate and I walked back to get the full effect before turning em oh..

*click*

they look exactly like the stock bulb... perhaps just a tad brighter but definitely not brighter... and definitely not blue in any way... heck... its yellow... not even close to white..

*sigh*

But i guess they were pretty cheap... and i'm too poor to afford PIAA.. but i think i should have gone with Eurolite... and it is at stock watt so i don't fry my harness... what can i do.. i'm just leaving em in now... too afraid to buy anything else and get jiped again...

I can upload pix if anyone wanna see... but its not impressive...

yeah, the bluevisions suck as do the phylips hyperlight or something. They do make some lights called silverstars that are like $50/pair that are supposed to be pretty good and don't require a harness change, but I haven't tried them. I think if you do a search there was someone here that posted picks.

9004 bulbs just suck in general. I got Sylvania Cool Blues, and they are much whiter than stock, and a bit brighter. I like em.

The SilverStars are good. My friend has them in his 91 GXE and they are no where near blue, but VERY white! I think that if you are looking for visibility quality and brightness they are almost worth the $50. No wiring upgrade needed, but it will still help if you had it.

9004HV

I complained to Philips and they are going to (or so they say) send me a pair of 9004HV to try out since I wasn't satisfied with the Bluevision. Humm... from the pic on their website the HV (Hi-Visibility) bulbs are coated with yellow instead of blue... but the guy from the email said it would be whites..

anyone have any comment on this?

yep

ebay sucks big time for that kind of stuff... i mean come on they sell you instructions on how to get 20 hp from advanced timing.. yeah right?.... anyways, carefull at what you buy. and some of those pictures they show a before and after.. but as you can see the after pics have the high beam lights on as the other picture its stock low beam.

i got 3A racing hyperwhites 9004. hey if you want a higher out put, get the upgrade harness for like 30-50 bucks on e-bay and then run some high out put lights. close to hids as you can get...

Re: yep

I just bought some higher wattage bulbs off E-bay...Don't know what they are...I think Hyper Industies or something like that...They have all this asian lettering all over them...Anyway, they look really good...Bright too, with a tint of blue. They were only $14 on E-bay...Plus the two aftermarket harnesses from AZ for $3 a pair. I couldn't be happier. Just upgrade your harness...Not too hard to do...Plus it really broadens your horzions for lights.

What did the harnesses look like? The actual upgrade harness is a $30 - $50 set. I replaces your stock wiring system (using it as the switch) and connects the power to bulbs directly from the battery. I am asking this in case the $3 harnesses are just the socket plugs that might also melt over time.

Interesting, as my BlueVisions compared to stock bulbs were brighter, lit up more of the road, and were whiter as well.

If you wanted blue, stay away from Phillips. They prefer white and yellow-tinted lights and that's what they make.

Hyper Bulbs

Hyper Industries bulbs suck. I bought the regular wattage ones a while ago and they blew out.. Two of my friends got the same ones, and they blew out.. They looked good, it was white with a light blue tint. In my opinion, just buy cheap bulbs, they're gonna blow anyway. Don't waste money for $70 PIAA's..

All I did was solder a new socket onto the existing wires. They haven't melted on me yet...And I just got back from a road trip driving 3 hours at night both ways. Has anyone melted aftermarket sockets too?

yea, i just spent $60 on the Piaa Superwhite's and i'm not impressed at all either...i hardly notice a difference, the high beams are a lil more blueish but the low beams r pretty much the same....dammit....i tried to match my hyperwhite corners and it didnt work, cuz they still look more blue than the piaa's, btw i have polarG bulbs in the corners w/ the rewire so they r brighter....oh well i guess ill jsut keep the piaa's anyway.
