Headlight Advice

Looking to install new headlight lamps on my '91 SE. Not looking to overhaul system, just add new bulbs for more light, better look, without spending too much $$$. Any advice or reccomendations?

i don't know if the 9004 bulbs will look too good. i got some cheap "super blue" ones from walmart and they looked just as yellow as the stock ones. i ended up returning them. so if it says D.O.T approved it probably won't look that good

yeah cheap bulbs suck. Sometimes they put out too much power and they kill your bulb harness. You would need to get good bulbs such as piaa or sylvania in order to get a look of somewhat blue and bright. But these things get expensive just for bulbs. Or if you got the cash go with real HID and there is a GD going on, check it out

I got some bulbs off of ebay and the seller states that these are the whitest bulbs you can buy (until you get into the REAL HID kits). I believe the brand was FX or something but they are blue in color and when you turn them on they have a really bright white output. These bulbs are the longest lasting 'Hyper White' bulbs i've tried (9 months and going) and they are the brightest. I also have an upgraded harness because you will melt the stock connectors with higher wattage bulbs. If you are wanting have better night vision its going to be hard with any brand you choose because the beam pattern on our Maximas are horrible. Driving lights???

Headlights

I have the A.P.C. Xenons with the upgraded wiring harness. The light output is brighter and much better than stock.

I wouldn't say everything that is DOT approved won't look good. My PIAAs are DOT approved and I am happy with them. The reason that DOT approved bulbs may not be as bright/blue as some other bulbs is because the PIAAs keep the same wattage/voltage that our car is supposed to use (correct me if I'm wrong guys) Still the PIAAs produce a clearer, whiter light with a very light blue tint to it, and IMO improve visibility quite a bit.

do NOT get nokya bulbs, they even melted my upgraded harness. i went through 3 harnesses on those things!! i am using sylvania silver stars right now and they greatly improve visibility. got them at auto zone. they are not as white as i hoped though. i also have some apc bubls that i use occasionaly that are more white but the sylvania light up the road MUCH better.
