Strong gas smell when hot

Since summer has started my 91 SE has started to smell like vaporized gas or ethanol when it's been driven 40 or more miles and is really hot. It's so bad it fills the whole garage and house with this smell and you can smell it really bad when your driving also. I'm wondering if it's an accumulator or the vacuum canister. It's definitelty coming from the front, but I'm stumped as to what it could be. Thanks guys.

The VG powered maximas had alot of problems w/ the rubber hoses that connect to the fuel rail leaking. I guess each injector has a little short run of rubber fuel injector hose that leaks when old. I don't know if there is a recall on this or not(there might be as I remember people talking about it) Also check all your fuel hoses from the filter to the fuel rail also. If you didn't say the smell was coming from the front, I would also suggest checking the rubber hose to fuel tank connection.

When the car is warm(and leaking) open the hood and see if you can pinpoint the leak(s). Be carefull as these types of fuel leaks can cause an engine fire. Get it fixed asap.

As Jeff said, the VG has a history of fuel line leaks. I've seen a huge number of them in junkyards because of engine fires. get it checked out ASAP.

Thanks for the help, I popped the hood open today when it was making the smell, and it is definitely coming from underneath the battery where the canister is. I don't know what hoses plug into it or what, but I'm going to remove the battery this weekend hopefully and check it out.
