AC Horsepower Loss.....
I don't know if there is any real number for this question, but from my driving experience, it's a generous amount. Try putting it in second and driving it up to about 30 with the A/C on, then keeping the same pressure on the gas, turn the a/c off. For me, I can actually feel a difference; maybe I'm just crazy though.
I notice a big power loss, it just doesn't feel the same with it on. When your in park or neutral and rev the engine it definitely is less free revving and the engine slows down a lot faster. I'd say it feels like it loses 5-15 HP, but probably more torque than anything.
my friends hate me cuz i refuse to turn the ac on unless its a chick hehee...
cuz seriously i love my car's power too much to give a damn about my personal comfort hehehe... u try driving down the 5 in california minus the ac on a hot summer day...all i do is buy ice waters and maintain a steady flow of liquids. i guess my sauna experiences make these driving moments easier
hehehe
but once a girl is on the car....windows shut moonroof closed its all about the a/c then.

you know, i heard that you lose as much gas mileage with the windows down as you do with the ac because of a lot of drag.
