Heater stinks!! Why??
#4
it could be bacteria
it is not uncommon for air born bacteria to grow in cars where the air conditioner is used alot. (espically with excessive use of the recirc switch) places were the condensation drips are ideal for this to occour. basicly anywere the compressor lines run. bacteria also like the heat in the winter. try spraying a bit of lysol into the vents with the fans off...

A looong time ago(before i could even drive) it seems like i remember reading in a magazine or a book or a webpage that maximas were prone to bad smells in their A/C...that was years ago tho..i could be wrong. The mention of bad smells and a/c just jogged my memory a little i suppose

Actualy the dealer told us to do it with my moms Villager. It has rear climate controlls and sometimes the rear vents kind of stink. It kind of makes the car smell like flower for a while, but it gets rid of the nasty smell..
