Hello New Zealand!

hey all, how many New Zealanders are on here?

It'd be good to organise some sort or gathering where we can compare cars. Just a random thought.

yeah, and i'm originally from invercargill! now in chch.

Its a shame there's not more new zealanders on here, cause there is sure a large no. of maximas around!

I want to mod mine a bit, but having trouble finding local parts, but dubious about ordering from the states.

go to like an autoshop or something. They usually have parts avaliable there. I have an autobarn near my place and they have air filters and exhausts etc. for my max. I am just saving up some money to buy the stuff.

Just go look around and you will find somewhere you can get parts (instead of buying from the states).

Kelfords have some reasonable priced cams for VG and VE Maximas. They can also import a *ahem* supercharger kit from Aust for about $7K (ouch). The hardest thing I found was trying to get a generic strut tower brace at the time. I'm sure you can get one to fit from Jap Race supplies or somewhere like that. Never ended up gettin gone myself.

Full exhaust systems are not cheap as not many people do it on Maxes. I priced one through Magoos and it might cost up to $1K. So you might be a guinea pig.

Never got to price through Turbo Technologies either. Link do a Maxima kit, but it maybe just for the VG. I have seen in NZ Performance car some of the lads in Auckland are starting to mod up some Maxes. Good be a good thing.

Brent.

Hi, I am from NZ, but I shifted to Australia. I can tell you there aint jack in the way of maximas here. The ones here also have the slow slow motors without the VI. 3rd and 4th gen are rare and pretty pricy too. chchmax, I was also from Invercargill. I had a 3rd gen for a while and a few other cars and then I got a highly potent 4th gen cefiro.

Umm, yeah, the 5 speed was the only fast ea. I don't drive fast though, I call it flying low. And Holden cant build their own engines so they always buy others and use them. EG Nissan turbo, buick V6, Chev V8

yeah, like that'd happen! I think the maxima might be slightly faster than a 1200cc four cylinder!

No it wasn't because remember the time you came down and your car died at 4500rpm and sounded like it was howling and starved of fuel, and then the next time you came down when nay was home. it was at xmas and I had cut the springs.

thats correct. it needed it too, goes a lot better now. but with one or some of the injectors possibly on their way out, it's probably not up to scratch again

Oh well. If we raced now youd need benoculars (spelling) to measure the car lengths

yes. I dont think 40km/hr top speed blowing black smoke after a leaking heater core would have beaten a ve.
