What is the largest speaker that fits the front doors?

Hey guys, I searched everywhere and could not find a answer that I was looking for. What is the largest speaker size that can fit the front door using custom brakets? I have 1990SE with a BOSE system, I am currently thinking of getting these speakers: Go Here , will these fit the doors? Thanks for your time.

theyd most likely fit...i have 6 1/2s in my doors in wooden brackets i made out of plywood and it fits fine. Take your door panel off and measure 6 3/4" all inside behind the Bose grill on the door panel, or even cut out a circular template out of paper 6 3/4" in diameter and use that to see.

Yeah, I've got Boston ProSeries 6.5's in my fronts. And that's using the Bose speaker pod. I don't see why those WON'T fit, with a little "ethnic restructuring".

Yeah 6 1/2's will fit.

I made some nice custom pods for my 6 1/2's out of fiberboard.

I've heard somewhere that an 8" sub (given that it doesnt have like a 20 inch mounting depth. lol) will fit in the front doors.

Thanks a lot for your help guys, Im going to buy the speakers soon and bypass them and make custom brakets for them. One more question though, will water get on the speaker if I just made a MDF wood board and cut a hole in it for the speaker, and screwed it on? Something like Craig did.

It shouldnt. When you take your door panel off do you see a puddle of water sitting inside the door? Nope, so I wouldnt worry about it.

Well, unless, like all your window weatherstripping is missing. lol

If you're really worried about it, Crutchfield (and just about ANY other place) has weatherproof baffles for your particular question/problem. They're really cheap too.

I have a 1991 GXE. I took out all of the Bose Speakers and put Pioneers all around and those are the exact size and model that I put in my front doors. I just took out the original bose speaker, drilled new holes into the original housing and did not use the back of the enclosure so that the magnet could fit in the door. Everything works great.
