intake question?

when you replace the cone on the intake do you have to replace the stock adapter too?? will anything happen if you just replace the stock cone with a k&n cone and leave the stock adapter in?

thanks

If you already have a cone filter in your Max, it's not stock - stock Max's have a black airbox with a drop-in panel filter. If the new filter fits nicely airtight in front of your MAF adapter, then you're good to go.

You need to take out the stock airbox (a few bolts, then you kinda twist and pull to get it out) then bolt the new cone filter onto the MAF adapter. Do a search, there have been much more detailed installation instructions posted already if you need them

Its best to use an aftermarket maf adapter because this way you don't ruin your airbox. www.speedalliance.com has maf adapters cheap. get one, use silacone sealant to glue it onto your maf sensor, put in the small bolts to hold it to the maf, attach cone filter to the maf adapter you just installed.

Chances are everyone was new to this just as you are, and these questions have been asked before. So yeah..search for answers, if you can't find any answers, then ask questions.

Hmmm......I just looked at your username for the first time...does that imply you have a 2002 Maxima? If so, you're in the wrong forum because we are giving you answers specific to 3rd gen Maximas. While the airbox/airfilters on all Maximas happen to be basically the same, it's a better idea to post in the forum that's correct for your specific generation car.

BTW, I'm 20, have had my Max about a year and a half, and my mods are in my signature and profile if yo uwant to see them.
