What is this thing?

I was looking through some of my old VG pics and came across something I have been meaning to ask for a long time. What is this silver box thing in the trunk?!

I thought it had something to do with the Bose system, but when I removed the Bose from my old car, it wasn't connected to the radio or the speakes. My VE doesnt have this thing. Anyone know?

yeah, RosenKen is right; it's the ABS controller. If your ABS light comes on, that's the box you check to get the codes from; it has a red LED on it that will flash (for the codes, go to www.bignissans.org.uk in J30 section and they have an article there)

automatic trannies have a control unit but it's located right on top of the ECU which is in the lower part of the center console (behind the ashtray area)

Hmm...my VE has ABS and it's having problems with it, but it doesn't have that box! Maybe that's the problem with the ABS? haha...but seriously, I'm starting to wonder where I can check my ABS codes if I don't have that box...I thought it might be in the center console ashtray area because I remember seeing some silver boxes down there when I put in my HU for the stereo...hmm...

do you have a big resivor(spelled wrong. holding container?) right by your battery? if you do then it means you have ABS, if you dont then your like me, skid happy.

also the boxes you saw when you were installing your stereo were the ECU and other fun gadgets. the ABS controller wouldnt be in there.

btw Box, thinking of putting ABS on your VE? if you still have access to your old VG you could......

Yes, I have the big reservoir (your spelling was pretty close), and I'm pretty sure I have ABS because the yellow ABS light has recently strated coming on sparatically when braking (it never stays steady, which seems odd..like a short or something, but all the wires I know to check by the wheels are fine). I am also having an electrical proble, something is drainin my system and when the ABS light comes on after a wihle, the battery/alternator red dash light also comes on, but it blinks very fast it also does not stay on steady. Weird, huh?
