Hybrid Intake?

I was looking through the search for ideas on making my own CAI from the K&N intake, and I came across "Hybrid Intake". Nothing seems to explain it in detail, but I saw a picture..
I was just trying to figure out what it is? Can I make my own CAI from the K&N, or would I have to buy one? What is hybrid intake, besides it is just a combination of CAI and pop charger?

go to home depot/lowes/grainger/mcmaster... and look around. if you can't figure it out then you shouldn't attemp it.

Hybrid intake means using the intake from another car on your max, me, and cheezer have 90-93 accord intakes, and da-max has a 95+ non turbo eclipse intake...

if you just want a filter, you can get a filter and adapter plate on ebay for less than $20 search for maxima intake.

i was under the impression that it meant it was a hybrid between a cai and a popcharger. using the upper pipe then attaching a cone filter onto the end of that.

Do a search for " Str8ridin". I made one like his (only better,I used 2" PVC and curved elec. conduit for the last leg of the journey) and love it! Spent maybe $28 !

I'm not sure if you have a VE or not, but its much easier to make a homemade upper pipe for a VE........

i know a couple people that used pvc
it works pretty good as long as it can hendle high temp's
its supposed to give off not-so-great vapors when it heats up i guess. im not really sure exactly how harmful they are though

pvc has a distortion temp of 170 degrees F at 264 psi.... it has to become liquid b4 gas so the temp to turn it into gas is A LOT higher. your avg engine bay operating temp is somewhere between 95-115 on a hot day (and that's at ground level pressure). if pvc can handle scorching hot water it can handle the heat under the hood.

yes

It's never even gotten hot to the touch and is nowhere near any hot engine parts. It simply, smoothly works.

well with what ive worked with for electrical conduit, when its simply exposed to sunlight for extended periods of time it gets really flexible. put some weight on the end of this and things just gets worse. if ya get a higher schedule pipe youll be fine. then again, 3" is much bigger than any pvc ive ever worked with, so you probably wont have a problem anyway.
