My dust boots are torn to shreds and is leaking grease for I dont know how long but within this year my axle and strut boots were replaced. So my question is can I just replace the dust boots or am I gonna have to replace the components that are covered by the dust boots? What are the symptoms if any of a torn tie rod dust boot?

I replaced both mine this year. It was pretty easy, but I did it with the engine support and y-pipe removed (while replacing motor mounts). The driver's side wouldn't be any harder, but the passenger side might be a little tough. Don't know about any symptoms, though. You could always replace the boots and try it. As I recall, there was hardly any grease at all inside the boots on mine, so I'm not sure where it would have leaked from.

Are you talking about the outer tie-rod dust boots or the steering rack boots that cover the inner tie-rod end?

You can't buy just the outer boots from Nissan (maybe there are generic versions out there someplace). They only have the complete outer tie-rod end.

The inner boots can be purchased and replaced.

They are the outer boots I think; when you take the wheel off you can clearly see them. Do you know how much is the complete outer tie-rod end?
