remote starter & keyless entry installation
does anyone know how to install a EZ-2100 remote starter/keyless entry system (or other remote starter) to a 93' maxima automatic? i just ordered this system online, and i am just wondering how difficult it is to install it without messing up the existing key entry and alarm system. any diagrams will be appreciated.

I installed a BullDog Remote starter in my GXE last year. I only used the wiring diagram of the RS form Bulldog and a Color chart for the Maxima wiring I found on the net. IT was easy, and it works.

This is kinda off the topic, but I was under the dash (looking under, I mean) and I noticed my clutch had a bar attached to it that pushed down on a lil black button. I decided to experiment a lil, and held down the button while my gf tried to start it and it did. SO! I think i'm going to slam on some duct tape or black tape on that switch and stick in a remote starter. Anyone think this isn't going to be a good idea?

-the clutch switch like you mentioned, you can just unplug the switch and put a jumper wire between the two terminals or (the better way) you can run a relay from the remote start signal to give power to that clutch switch when you remote start
-you only want it to be able to start in neutral, otherwise, the car could lurch forward if you tried to start it in gear; there is a sensor built into the tranny that tells if it's in neutral or not which has a wire going into the ecu. I dont remember the exact color right now (I think brown, but not 100% sure), but I've posted it before so it's in the archives somewhere. you want to wire that into the hood pin input of the remote starter so that if it isn't in neutral, the car wont start (most remote starts have a built in hood pin input so that the car wont start if the hood is open - in case you're under the hood working on something I guess)
This may require a couple relays, but it's not all that bad

Isnt it supposed to be to start when it's in neutral alone? In anycase, what exactly is that switch for? I mean if it has a sensor built into the tranny that runs to the ecu and tells it when it's in gear, then doesn't that defeat the purpose of the switch?

you DONT want the car to start in gear
the switch is there so you dont start the car in gear and make it jump forward ie if you left the car in gear and just started it without putting your foot on the clutch
I'm not really sure what the neutral sensor is used for in the ECU
I've thought of wiring up something to make it so that if the car is in N, you dont need to put the switch in, but then I got lazy and decided to just push the clutch when I start the car

but if i do "ghetto tape" down the switch, will it affect anything? Like the factory security which I have? Oh yea...and While I'm at it, I was under the dash cos for some reason, an adapter with a rubber protective covering appered from nowhere and was dangling under the dash towards the left. I tried tracing it and it appeared to run to the junction of cables right before the fuse box. I asked a guy here in town and he said it might be the diagnostic adapter. It didnt affect anything though (checked everything except the cruise, which i doubt it is)

that thing hanging down is to plug in to the diagnostics tool, just tuck it back under the dash and dont worry about it
