I don't want to know your secrets I was just curious in general how to make the engine look better.

 

Because all the black was so black and everything just looked new and clean.

 

It was actually black emerald.

I bought that car about '98.. that was my 93GXE. it was steam cleaned at the dealer, and I just never let the engine bay get dirty after that. monthly power-washing and an occaisional "engine cleaner" spray was all it took to keep it that way.

The pics I took there were right before a show or something where I'd sprayed all the hoses with silicone and made everything purdy. other than that, it was just a regular 30 second cleaning that kept it all looking that clean.

 

FYI there are sites out there that explain how to do this. It takes lots of time and patience to do it right.

 

Yup, exactly.
Many people will find it cheaper to pay someone else to do it than to do it themselves.

(i.e. if you earn anything more than minimum wage, you can pay someone else to do it and make the money to pay them in less time than it would take you to do the job yourself.)

not to mention the fact that "beginners" always make a tiny mistake in the beginning that will leave scratches that still show up in the final polish. been there, done that. GRRR.

That looks great. Good work. I'm currently trying some polishing on my aluminum wheels. It's a pain to remove all the dirt and brake dust that has never been cleaned before all in those little tiny nooks and crannys.

How much did you charge? or do you charge? for the VE valve cover? also can you put the red badge back on the valve cover? the one that says V6 DOHC 3000???

 

I haven't set a definite price yet, but that'll be worked out soon. The red badge was removed by nubiannupe before he sent it to me, so after i send it back to him he'll probably put it back on. You can just glue it back on, nothing hard.

 

Yeah, I'm reworking that badge into my whole engine color scheme, which should look pretty nice once I'm done! Oh, and Sudesh... I sent that "letter" off today (well, last night - but you get the gist...). Let me know when you get it.

 

damnnnnnnnnnnnn...that looks really good......i bent one of my stock rims in an accident and had to get a replacement....i thought the rim was just really dirty unitl i cleaned it and realized there was no chrome plating on the rim anymore....can it be polished and look the same as the other rims??

 

It can be polished definitely, but right now i don't even do wheels. Sorry man.
