Still the VTC grounding problem-Is there a mothed without cutting the wire?

I want to do the VTC grounding job. But I don't want to cut the coat
of the wire. Any other alternative options? Is there any connector
or quick splicer available to solve this problem? If so, please give
me a part number. Thanks a lot.

the connectors I used and that are listed in the procedure for it dont require any stripping of the VTC signal wire

you can just unclip it if you dont want it on anymore

Could you give me a picture or a link so that I can know what type of
connector are you using? Thanks.
BTW: Where to buy it, Radioshack or Wal-mart or any other place?

I did it without cutting the wire as well. Strip back the casing of the green/y wire with a razor blade to expose the wire without cutting it. I then soldered on the new lead and covered it with liquid electrical tape, then tape. If I ever want to go back I can simply snip off the soldered wire.

I prefer soldered connections over any type or crimp, I build conversion harness for engine swaps for OBD-I and OBD-II systems, I have had many crimped connections fail over time.

Sorry, I visited all the webpages listed in FAQ, including your own
homepages, but I haven't found any connector you metioned. Could you
give me a picture of the connector you used? Thanks.

go to my homepage
click the how-to link
find VTC rewire on there

that first page it will take you to is a general introduction, at the top, there is a link to the other page which has instructions and it has pics and part numbers of the connectors that I used from Radio Shack. There are lots of other types of connectors that can be used including the "quick splice" or vampire taps that you can get at any Home Depot, Radio Shack or even Pep Boys
looks like this

btw, where in GA are you? I'm downtown at GT

I got mine at Walmart. It costed me a whopping $1.66. It's made by 3M and the package includes the line tap connect plug and the male connector that plugs into it. The numbers in the lower right hand corner of the package are 03777NA. All you need now is a ring terminal and a piece of 14-18awg wire (about 6 inches long). Crimp the terminal on one end and the male connector on the other end of the wire. Expose the input (green/yellow) wire and clamp the line tap connect around that wire. Then, simply plug in the mating male. All you have left to do after that is unscrew one of the screws that is closest to the VTC solenoid, put the screw through the ring terminal and retighten. Then you're finished. The entire procedure took about a total of 5 minutes. And I am not in the least electrically oriented. As for the timing, the cam position sensor is on the driver's side head in the front of the motor. All you have to do is mark the sensor, unscrew/unbolt (12mm) the two bolts at the bottom and turn it clockwise about a 1/10 of an inch, then retighten. This whole procedure from start to finish took about 3 minutes, and I saw good results. Keep scrolling through the posts if this info isn't enough, because I knew absolutely nothing about Maxima's until about a week ago when I first learned of this site. It's been a huge help.
