Will SE (white) gauges work perfectly in a GXE??

I think I might have to replace my gauge cluster, so I might just get some white ones to dress things up. I know the SE gauges will fit, but are they calibrated the same as the GXE gauges?? I remember reading that the auto trannies in the SE and GXE where different and the gauges red differently. Is this true?

Thanks

yes it will work fine. and no there is no calibrating needed. just make sure to get the 125 mph se gauge (89-91) and not the 92-94 or it won't work.

I'm almost positive mine is accurate. The RPM is definitely accurate.

Actually, I know for a fact my speedo is accurate. There was one of those big speedometers on the side of the road (guess they were checking avg. speed of passing traffic). I got my car up to about 65mph, which is what my speedo read.

the SE cluster works for my GXE no problems - I did notice a slight variance in the temp needle, but haven't isolated the problem to a sensor or perhaps the needle itself.

Speedo and Tach are accurate. I calibrated using a Police Speedo/Radar machine sitting on the side of the road such as Shados1198 did.

What did you do about the odometer. If you just unhook the old and hook up the new then the odometer is not correct. My speedometer has gone bad and would like to replace the cluster. I have access to an se (125mph) cluster but was not sure what to do about the odometer. Thanks the help.

I never swapped the odometer. I wrote down what mileage each gauge cluster was at when I did the swap, for my own humor. I've already decided I am keeping my Maxima until it is completely dead. I'm not going to ever sell it to anyone, so I don't care as much about the mileage.

My maxima only has about 65,000 miles on it - I was lucky enough to find an SE cluster with about 62,000 miles on Ebay so I didn't really worry about the mileage difference.

I actually have an se gauge cluster available if you would be interested. Let me know if you are. Good luck with the swap otherwise.
