300 ZX Engine
300 ZX Engine
In the Super Street issued sept 2001 there in the readers rides there is a 1992 Maxima that is stating he engine swapped with a Nissan 300 zx which i though was rear wheel drive. No i confronted this guy and he is telling me it is all true. Is this at all possible. This guy even gave me instructions on how to do it.
Re: 300 ZX Engine
this wouldn't happen to be a 1992 GXE would it...

The 300zx na and turb o models used the vg30E and ET engines..identical blocks and mounting points, similar heads, different intake setups as max vg30's..it can be done relatively easy and cheaply if you do some good planning and parts sourcing.
It's been done before!!!
There was a guy that was featured in a popular import car magazine in May of 2000 or around there with a black 3rd gen that had done the swap, with the entire motor, putting the engine in sideways...
Not the first and obviously not the last.

Exactly.
Youcan do a 5.0L conversion into a Ranger/Explorer/etc for $2000.
However when you are done the total bill is more like $6000.
Anytime you are going to invest that much time or $$ into a project there is no going back and there is no cutting corners, so plan on double at least, if you want it done right.
Especially with aw Turbo! the fuel management, custom plumbing, etc...all really ad up quick.....
then of course you dont want to be snapping axles and blowing up transmissions, so you cant skimp on all that stuff.....

wow so this guy isnt really blowing smoke up my a$$. Now i guess then your maxima would have to go from front wheel drive to rear wheel right? plus would the maxima body structure be able to handle that kind of horse power. I mean the 300 ZX is a sports car a maxima is a luxury car. My luck the dam car would fall apart while driving or something
PLEASE do a search all this has been covered TOO MANY times to count.
