busted power antenna..............

My antenna won't go down or up on its own anymore. Anyone know where the best place to get a new one is? Should I get an OEM Nissan one or some other direct fit replacement. My search gave me nothing. Also, what should I expect to pay for it and is the install simple or will I be cursing my car? Thanks in advance.

Im not a fan of the power antenna so i just went on down to autozone and got a replacement black mast. Only cost about $10 and install was pretty straight foward.

Re: busted power antenna..............

Before you go out and buy a new one, make sure that the antenna isn't dirty. Take a clean, dry cloth and give the entire antenna a nice rub down. Be careful not to bend it, though. The antennas are hollow and too much pressure will bend them. Then you'll really need a new one. This a very common problem with retractable antennas.

Antenna

careful with the antenna replacements I bought one on ebay and it took forever to get it to work. My 92Se had an antenna timing assembly which continued to give it power after the key was turned off. I bought a hirschmen exact replacement which wasn't. with a meter I was abe to find a pulse wire in the antenna timer wiring connector but if you turn the key off before it retracts it just stops where ever it is. leave the key on till you turn the radio off and it finishes going down and your fine.

I bought a fixed antenna from one of the auto parts store, I think it was Checker's. It fits very well and was easy to install. Removing the old power antenna was more difficult.
