Interior Seats

I'm thinking of changing my cloth seats with some leather seats. The problem is the leather seats have power options to them. How hard is is to add power/relays for the functions on the leather seats to work.

Thanks for your response.

I guess you guys are missing my point. My car doesn't have a cable/relay for the power seats. It came from the factory with the cloth seats and there are no power wires for the leather seats I would like to ge.

Do you think If it was as siple as plugging a wire I would have had posted a thread..........

dude...

u can also take just the leather off those power seats (and leave the frame) and take the cloth off the cloth seats and just switch em...but that way u will have NON-power leather seats...i dunno if u want that.

the cloth and the leather is attached to the seat frame by small rings at the bottom and behind the seats....

all you have to do is tap into any power wire and ground to the body. you can get a plug from radio shack, .or just splice in the wires. test ti see which is which with a battery

If i'm not mistaken, the leather and cloth seats are completely different. The reason I say that is I called a company about getting new leather covers for my seats and the they ask me if my seats were leather or not. They said it made a difference.

I'm thinking if the controls for the power seat is on the seat itself (not somewhere else like Mercedes do) then you ought to be able to just connect the thing to the battery or something, and it will work. Just like adding other types of electrical accessories, i.e. amps, foglights, neons, whatever. Just run the cable under the carpet or under the sill and nobody will know!

actually there are two wires down there. one for the seat belt sensor and one for the power seat option. my gxe is the same way, but i do have power seats in that one. my se has non-power seats but the wire is still there.
