crazy idea...
crazy idea...
In the paper this morning i found this ad:
NISSAN 1992 Maxima 5spd, fully loaded, blk on blk, spoiler, snrf, CD, 95k, mint cond, $3700
holy shat, did heaven come to earth? Now my "crazy" idea...buy this car, swap trannies (im auto), detail/tidy up the former 5 spd and sell it to earn some of the $$ back
now, my obstacles...
- first of all i know im in for more than i think laborwise for this tranny swap job
- not only the labor itself but the time to do it being that im a full time student (5 spd car will probably sit till summer when i have time to do it...of course ill take it for a spin at least once a week so the car isnt completely stagnant for 8 months) and the other beauty is that i wont need insurance on this car being that ill have my auto for everyday commuter use until the job.
-storage...being that this will probably take place at my house unless i find a better place, i dont think my family will be exactly celebrating that theres 2 half-apart VEs in the driveway (prior to it though will be nice...2 black VEs and my moms black 2K3 SE
)
to answer the question that is probably most prominent in your heads right now "why not just sell the auto?"....hard to "explain", i know theyre the same car but i have too much emotional attatchment to mine and its just in too good of condition to let it go (body, paint, engine wise) plus this new one may have a great condition 5 spd tranny but suppose its got 'VTC fever', or any other problems...mine is perfect no VTC prob, nothing
im gonna call the seller tomorrow and check it out, so update tomorrow!
i mean just try to put yourself in my shoes - a full time college student majoring in mechanical engineering with a busy academic schedule who works part time but loves having a life and hobbies such as working on the car and learning as i go
thoughts/comments etc wanted/welcomed, thanks

check out the other car. I wouldn't even bother with the tranny swap if it's gonna be too much of a problem. How many miles are on your current car?

well he didnt do any tranny swaps, but as he says "2 VEs are better than one
"
Kaleb did the tranny swap for pretty cheap
but he did all the work himself. I think it came out less than a $1000 once he sold his auto tranny. If you did all the work yourself it might be worth it.

That is a rare find and if there are no vtc's and window problems then you might have found a winner
VE 5sp's rule!

3700 sounds a little steep to try to make some money off, especially after all that work. y not just look for a parts car to do the swap with. i saw a clean black se on old country road for $1950 sunday. it that one is as clean at least you can make some profit off it. just a thought............................
THE VERDICT!!
...car is sold
hmm where exactly is this car located?...VE 5 spd?

Maybe not meant to be right now. Your car is in excellent condition. If you do however decide to this in the future I would give you a hand on my free time.

i dont remember, im guessing some srt of fast food joint, maybe dunkin donuts, i saw a big sign in the windshield with the price but my gf was with me so i couldnt stop
, im almost 100% its old country, where pearl paint is, around where the roxy is and there arent alot of hooters around(not the one off xit 58
), i think this is the only other one besides the city. anyone from the area should be able to verify where hooters is, any guys from nassau?

nah i dont think i saw it then...im not rushing to do this job anyway, i can buy the car anytime but the job itself will have to wait. Gives me time to look around more leisurely and maybe when im NOT looking the right one will come around
