re: water leaks in passenger side

my 93' max. started leaking last week. water is dripping from somewhere above the passenger's foot area. i didn't turn on the a/c for a week.. it happens only after heavy rain.. i have never had any accidents before.. don't know why.. strange.. anyone has this experience before? got it fixed??

Same here. I'd vote for the heater core rusted and leaking. Does the car smell like antifreeze? Is the water rusty?? Or else you could have a an A/C problem. Definately want to check it out.

Wait, try this: Leave the car parked without the engine running and take a hose and spray the car down for several minutes especially in the front passengers side. If it leaks you've probably got a problem related to your outer seal or windshield.

well, i took my car to a mechanic, and he said the it could be the drain tube for the a/c evaporator. he looked under by car and found the tube right under where the passenger's foot is. he said that there is a plastic cover which add like a valve to prevent water or sand getting into the tube, so water could only go one way from inside out. that plastic cover could stick to the mouth of the tube.. and water couldn't get out. he cut the plastic cover for me. i hope it will solve the problem.. maybe i should wait until next heavy rain to tell. my car doesn't stink.. i don't smell anything from the water.. it looks clear.. so the problem is new i guess. i hope that it's not the problem of the windshield.. it could cost a fortune to fix it. i am not sure how much.. i am just wondering if it's a common problem to have leaks at the windshield? or it just happens to me..

have you had the windshield replaced before? if not, I really doubt it's the windshild becasue the factory seal on them is pretty good.

yeah.. my windshield has been replaced twice. my wife took it to replace the windshield once she found a little crack on the windshield. damn it.. if that is the case, my mechanice had already cut a piece of the drain tube plastic cover. without the plastic cover.. would sand and water get inside the a/c evaporator throught the small tube? any idea how much it would cost to remove the windshield and reseal it?

i had a similar problen but mine tured out to be that in the cown, off to both sides theres a vent that allows rain water to escape out the sides, by the fenders(if your fenders are rusted now u know why), but after taking out the cowl panel i noticed that the water wasnt going out, and it was actually backing itself into the core. i powerwashed the sides out and after repeatedly trying to fill the cowl back up it never did, and it never rained inthe car again
