engine swap

has anyone heard of putting in a 4th gen motor in a 3rd gen? does it work with no problems if done correctly? both are 3.0 liter so i was suppose that it wouldnt be that much larger. i was wondering because my max is getting some high mileage on it, id rather keep it and get a motor swap then to buy a new car

I've never seen or heard of anyone pulling that off. It'd be pretty cool to see it happen though.

da-max i think your full of shyt, q45s have big V8's in them, im not sure of the exact displacement but i dont believe that you had it unless you have pics, in which if anyone had a q45 motor in thier max they sure as hell would do

Da-Max, you sound like someone else I know

Anyhoo, this person sounds at least genuine in the request.

A VQ swap would be a real nice swap. Especially if that included the VQ3.5. But consider the following:
1) Completely different engine mounts
2) Completely different bellhousing bolt pattern I assume.
3) Completely different wiring harness.

Your statement about being "done right" is a loaded one. As in you would have be loaded to make it happen.

Now, this is has been discussed before so I suggest searching before getting your head cut off from the sharks.

you guys are all whack...going bigger is not better. I am happy with my SR20DE-T and I still have plenty of room in the engine bay.

Well, I just dropped a vtec in my max and put an all drive system on it. I also took out 200 lbs of weight, but put a 200 lbs body kit on there.
