Warpspeed Y pipe / ECU question

Got my Y installed today. Very clean. No problems, no weird sounds.
But wondering about "ECU reset" that I hear other gens talking about. Does that apply to us 3rd gens? And if so, what's the best procedure?
Leave it alone? Disconnect the battery overnight? Physically reset it somehow? What's the word? Thanks for any help.
P.S. Warpspeed had a nine day turn-around for me and were a pleasure to deal with. Budget in Canada no longer produces a 3rd gen Y pipe.

i also heard that you're supposed to reset your ecu if you want to notice the gains right away. if you don't it takes the ecu 200ish miles to learn the new flow of the pipe.. or so they say. i reset my ecu and didn't notice a difference but you can try it. to reset it, remove the kick panel on the passenger side, and you'll see the ecu. turn the screw to diagnostic mode, turn the key to the on position. the check engine light should start flashing. turn the key off, turn the screw back to where it was and it should be reset.

good luck

Thanks Canadian. That's exactly the info I needed. I didn't even know where it was located.

lophix, I had heard the disconnect idea and so I did it last night. I'm hoping that did the trick. Taking it for a flight through the winding hills of SE Ohio today. Good roads, no traffic, blue skies and flaming foliage. I do love driving this car!

it only needs to be disconnected for a few seconds to reset everything. the ECU doesn't keep anything in static memory, so when the battery is disconnected, everything stored in the ECU is gone.. just unplug the battery, wait a few seconds/minutes/whatever. plug it back in and you'll be ready to go.
it will STILL take a while for the ECU to adjust to the new stuff, as the ecu always defaults to factory settings when it sees a large change in behavior of the engine.

Thanks Matt. It's running great today. Smoother, just as quiet as stock until above 3500 and pulls so sweet after that! Floor it at 95 in fifth and it pulls hard right up to 115 where I back down before it does.(don't have the tires, or suspension for that matter, to trust beyond 125, way too floaty, but she sure wants to get up there.)
Must be the '00 5 spokes that make it so fast.
And it will only get better, eh?

revelling in my ride....RZ
