how many quarts of ATF

Guys
I want to change the ATF for my 93 Max SE... I got ATF changed last year for $25.00. It is cheap.. I did not know the value.. Now after being org member I know the value. I want to get the redline D4 ATF and change it my self..
I have the FSM.. But I just cant find how much I need to put in after I drain.. FSM says I need X quart(I don't remember) with torgue converter..

It doesn't say whether with flush or drain... can any body suggest me exact Volume..

Thanks

Your tranny fluid capacity is 10 quarts. But, when you undo the drain plug on the tranny pan, you will get out about 4.5 quarts. And that's a lot. Just drain it and fill it up with 3 or 3.5 quarts, then check level, then fill accordingly. It's easier than changing your oil. If you have any more questions, just ask.

ATF questions

Just two more questions related to ATF..
1. Is it OK just to drain and refill with Synthetic ATF? Or should I get it flushed by some one else (Midas or else where) then do a refill

2. I have a small leak on the left side of transmission.. It is very minor now. Can switching to synthetic like Redline D4 ATF cause any harm in this condition..? Will leakage get worse after I switch to synthetic..?

Right now I am using a regular ATF..

Thanks

I can't really answer this for you cause I don't know. Hopefully some one will chime in and enlighten us. I've always believed that changing to synthentic on an old car is not a good choice b/c it tends to slips through worn seals much easier and leaks might start to happen. I am using regular ATF right now and I am making sure it's absolutely perfect at all times.
