3rd gen steering wheels

If I have a 92 SE, would only the other 92-94 SE's have the same steering wheel? I have the air bag option and cruise control mounted on the steering wheel. If the 91 SE is the same as the 92, I may have found another black steering wheel like mine at a shop in NC

Nope, different wheel. No air bag in 91.

yea...i have a 91se w/o the airbag, but i dont miss it kicks a$$ having your cruise on the wheel. My steering has peeled though and has a wheel cover on it. Where did you find that steering wheel and is it brand new? how much does it run? any online site? and i'm talking actual oem wheel.

Hey take another look at that airbag wheel on the right side between the upper and lower spokes. If I'm not mistaken those are Cruise Control buttons. They get the best of both worlds!

A junk yard would be your best bet. You can also use a non-airbag wheel from a 240SX. Somebody here has 1 I believe. You might also be able to use a 300ZX wheel. Call the dealer and they might be able to tell you. Hmm a 300ZX non-airbag steering wheel might be nice! Idea!!

Personally, I would go with a 89-91 GXE wheel over any other wheel

http://www.car-part.com is where I do searching for oem parts. It searches through all the junkyards in your state. I'm gonna wait and try to find another 92-94 SE wheel probably.

wow! how do you live with yourself? lol.
question: If I get the wheel from a 92-94 maxima with airbag (I dont have an airbag) is there a chance of the airbag deploying for any reason? Also, are the harnesses the same for the cruise (plug and play)

do you want to take a chance and have the airbag delopy.. its a waste of money to get a wheel with the airbag... b/c there are lot og things that it needs to work.. you dont want to drive down the road and have a used wheel with an airbag to go foff and make you loose control..

Wait until someone on the org is parting out their 3rd gen and request the steering wheel

An airbag needs an electrical signal to set off the charge that deploys the airbag. If you don't hook up the signal, it won't deploy. Just make sure you hook up the horn correctly and you should be good! You don't want the airbag to deploy first time you honk at somebody

PS you might also have a problem if you were to run over some high-voltage electrical wires... might set off your airbag. Other than that you should be ok. I think you can remove the airbag unit too? I might be mistaken.

Oh well guess I have to start keeping an eye out for people posting parts and stuff. Need it in black too. Kinda rare. Oh well. Thanks for the idea.

Forget about those SE wheels. They are kinda ugly, just like the GXE wheel. Go get yourself a used wheel off a old 240SX or 300ZX. I have one in my car and I swear the car feels totally different with this wheel on. It has nice thick/beefy leather cover and is also a lot smaller than the maxima wheels. Steering is a lot tighter and precise. My old GXE wheel was very cumbersome and oversized.

Trust me...just go to a junk hard and see for yourself. I believe I paid $50 for mine.

Goodluck,
Kevin
