Warning Lights are on for no reason??
Hey all, I've got a 1992 GXE
I live in Toronto and we've recently had a decent snowfall.
I parked my car overnight outside (in the cold) and the next day when I turned on the car some of the warning lights didn't turn off.
The "ABS", "Battery" and "Hand Brake" warning indicators are on. The car seems to be idling and running smooth, but the lights do not turn off.
What's up with this? Could the cold weather and my battery have something to do with this. (I haven't replaced the battery since I bought the car two years ago). My battery was also completley dead when my alternator gave out a year ago.
I'd appreciate any suggestions before I take it to my mechanic.

Yeah most likely your battery is on its way out. Does the car crank quickly or pretty slow? Be ready to buy a new one.

sometimes when I think the car should be on and I stop cranking the car sputters but fails to run, but other times it cranks up quick quick (but that's when the engine is already warm)
.....its a "DIE HARD" or "delco" battery I think.

check your brake fluid - many people think that light just means that the emergency brake is on, but it also indicates low brake fluid
If that's fine, then it may be your alternator. I had the alternator belt snap on my car and then the battery and brake light came on together until I replaced that belt and I've known others that had those 2 lights come on when the alternator was dead.
I'm not sure why the ABS light is on all of the sudden though. Go to www.bignissans.org.uk in the J30 articles and look for "dont go braking my heart" or something like that and it'll tell you how to diagnose your ABS light

Last month the waterpump and all the timing belts were replaced so the belt may be messing things up....
Thanks for the tips
