Bad day for the VE.....

No, its not wrecked. i just found out the extent of its illness. according to alldata, compression should be 184 max, 143 min with less than 14psi variation. well, a few cylinders passed, 170psi and 165psi,dry, the rest were 125-145 dry, and 130-150 wet (compression actually went down on the wet test for the two high cyls)then i decide to test my knock sensor with an ohmmeter. well, between the connector and ECU, i got .554ohm, between the connector and sensor, i got "over limit" meaning there is no connection (or too high for the meter to read but if it made any connection, it shoulda make some noise/blink).
anyway...approximate cost of a rebuild? i can install the heads/accessories/whatever but i dont want to rebuild the heads or measure the block for bearing clearances or whatever (although if someone convinces me that its really not as hard as it seems, i'll do it). i am capable of installing rings/pistons/rods/crank/bearings/seals whatever.
i was thinking about a stroker kit from paeco, custom 260* cams (per nismo87se's advice) and all the porting and polishing i could benefit from w/o sacrificing a nice idle/smooth power delivery.

The 1/2 ohm reading you got is okay. But what you need to do is measure between the connector going to the KS(do both terminals in order to have the correct one), and ground (-).

Only 144,000. I suspect I ran it TOOOO low on oil and then ruined a bearing(main/crank)but won't know until I pull the heads etc.

SO VE GUYS, MAKE SURE TO CHECK YOUR OIL LEVELS! In the mornings is a good time or whenever the car has sat for 1 hour or so.

thats what i meant by my incomplete thought about the whole "over limit" thing in my original post, so i did do that and the meter said theres no connection.

Yeah I was looking at their website last night. I e-mailed them too.

I meant do you have any specifics on it or have you been in contact with them about it?

nope. i was planning something along the lines of VQ bore w/crank to make it 3.2-3.5L....or possibly just destroke to VQ specs since thats where i believe they get their superior torque (bigger bore, shorter stroke).

Put it this way if you have to ask you can't afford it . Nitrous is a good bang for the buck as for power gains if it's used wisely. BTW it isn't cheating either .
