remote starter problems
remote starter problems
i just got a remote starter/entry system installed on my 93 max. gxe automatic. (commando ez-2200 system) after installation, something is wrong with my car. i started getting electric shock (or static) when i get into my car and insert the key into the ignition cylinder (where we insert the key and turn to start the car). the shock is between my fingers and the ignition cylinder. it really hurts.. it doesn't happens all the time.. maybe once every 2 days.. especially when it's really dry that day. damn it.. i don't think that i had the same problem before the installation. i wouldn't get static from the ignition cylinder.. the technician who installed the system told me that it's absolutely normal.. does anyone has ever got static from where i get?????
thanks,

Re: remote starter problems
I have been installinf now for ten years and if something was touching metal dont you think it would blow a fuse instead of shocking you? Or could this be because it is really dry and the air positivly charged ( same thing as dragging your feet on the carpet and grabbing the door **** {ZAP} ) I use to live in Kansas and this was an eveyday thing. It could be from you sliding into your seat building up static electricty and then touching the key cylinder. Just my .02

I have to agree with fattamax here (and I've been installing for as long has he has...). Up here in good ol' North Dakota, I see more and more people that have that problem. Like he said (and I'm just basing this on my personal observations), I think it has as much to do with positively charged air than an obvious electrical problem.
I would think if it were electrical in nature, at the least, a fuse would have popped...
but then again, WTF do I know???
